Lost Styling was born out of an absolute LOVE of clothes, fashion and of course shopping!
But it’s more than that for me.
Have you ever been through a period in your life where you feel like you’ve lost your mojo and don’t really know what to wear?
Yep, me too!
Working in the city for 15 years I knew then exactly what to wear.
Suit from T.M. Lewin – Check
Shirt from M&S – Check (or T.M. Lewin again – but only when they had their 5 shirts for £100 offer on!)
Black Heels
Designer Handbag (because I could afford it back then without the financial responsibility that comes with kids!)
Pearl Earrings.
You get the gist. But then all that changed when I quit my job due to infertility and decided to stay home and try for a baby.
I very quickly realised that I had nothing to wear that wasn’t a suit or business attire. I didn’t even know what I WANTED to wear! Who even was I?
So I lived in tracksuits for a year!
Now don’t get me wrong, there is NOTHING wrong with a tracksuit.
But these were some that I picked up from the Factory Shop in the boys section because I’m 5ft and nothing else seemed to fit.
Then I had a baby. Hurrah! So I got myself out of those tracksuits.
And fell into a pair of leggings and a baggy top in which I remained for the longest time.
I felt crap. I wanted to wear colour, I wanted to dress in cool clothes that were a bit different. I didn’t want to wear what everyone else was wearing.
So I stopped.
I started to wear the things that I wanted to wear. How I wanted to wear them. Even if it was only on the school run.
In true self depracating fashion, I named myself “The Midlife Crisis Mum” just imagining that people were mocking me for dressing up for the school run or just to run day to day errands.
BUT something amazing happened.
People started to comment.
“You look fab today”, “I love that coat”, “Ohhh I’d have never thought of wearing trainers with that”
And it felt amazing.
Not only did I feel great in what I was wearing, but the power of a compliment from friends / colleagues or even a stranger has the power to lift you like nothing else.
And that’s when I realised how the clothes that we wear have the power to lift our mental health and wellbeing.
And so now I’m learning all that I can to go out and make as many women as possible feel incredible every single day.
I’d love you to follow along as I go on this journey where I’ll share what I learn and give you some tips and tricks to make yourself feel amazing!
